Supported services

We optimize commitment coverage (Savings Plans and Reserved Instances) across compute and database services. You activate two plans: Compute and Datastore. If AWS adds services to Database Savings Plans, your coverage includes them automatically.

Compute#

  • Amazon EC2: Compute Savings Plans apply to every instance family, size, Region, and operating system. This includes the EC2 capacity of Amazon EKS, Amazon ECS, and AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
  • AWS Fargate: Compute Savings Plans apply to Fargate tasks for Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS.
  • AWS Lambda: Compute Savings Plans apply to Lambda usage.
  • Amazon SageMaker AI: SageMaker AI Savings Plans apply to SageMaker AI instance usage.

Datastore#

Database Savings Plans cover Generation 7 and newer instances and serverless usage. Reserved Instances cover older instance generations and the services that Database Savings Plans don’t cover.

  • Amazon RDS & Aurora: Database Savings Plans for Generation 7 and newer instances, Aurora Serverless, and Aurora DSQL. Reserved Instances for older generations. For RDS for SQL Server, the discount applies to the instance price, not to the license.
  • Amazon ElastiCache: Database Savings Plans for Valkey on Generation 7 and newer nodes, and for ElastiCache Serverless for Valkey. Reserved nodes for Redis OSS, Memcached, and older Valkey nodes.
  • Amazon OpenSearch Service: Database Savings Plans for Generation 7 and newer instances and OpenSearch Serverless. Reserved Instances for older generations.
  • Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility): Database Savings Plans for Generation 7 and newer instances and DocumentDB Serverless.
  • Amazon Neptune: Database Savings Plans for Generation 7 and newer instances, Neptune Serverless, and Neptune Analytics.
  • Amazon DynamoDB: Database Savings Plans for on-demand and provisioned throughput.
  • Amazon Keyspaces (for Apache Cassandra): Database Savings Plans for on-demand and provisioned throughput.
  • Amazon Timestream: Database Savings Plans for Timestream for InfluxDB instances.
  • AWS Database Migration Service: Database Savings Plans for DMS instances and DMS Serverless.
  • Amazon MemoryDB: Reserved nodes. Database Savings Plans don’t cover MemoryDB.
  • Amazon Redshift: Reserved nodes for provisioned clusters. Database Savings Plans don’t cover Redshift.
AWS never applies a Database Savings Plan and a Reserved Instance to the same workload. Reserved Instances you already own keep covering their workloads, and MilkStraw AI covers the rest.
